Exchange traded funds (ETFs) are investment vehicles listed and traded on stock exchanges. ETFs most commonly track a basket of assets, such as equities, commodities or bonds, but may also follow more exotic factors such as volatility. Most ETFs are benchmarked against a recognised index that is reflected in the underlying assets included within the ETF.
