In a regulated environment, the term ‘supervision’ may refer to the process used by regulators to oversee the businesses and activities they regulate. In a more general sense, however, it refers to the activity of managing the people within those regulated businesses. This module is concerned solely with this more general meaning – the management and oversight of people who work within a regulated environment. It examines the expectations of training and competence supervision, the practical skills of guiding and coaching, how to develop and assess new staff (especially advisers) and techniques for resolving poor performance.
