The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) is calling on financial planners across the UK to take part in Financial Planning Week 2027, challenging professionals to give at least one hour of their time to help make financial planning more accessible to people in their local communities.
CISI’s annual Financial Planning Week (FP Week), which will run from 25 -31 January 2027, is a nationwide public outreach campaign to spread awareness of the benefits of financial planning.
Under the proposed campaign message, “One Hour. One Action. A Lasting Difference,” CISI is encouraging more planners and firms to share their expertise, raise awareness of the benefits of financial planning and help people feel more confident about their financial futures.
Financial planning is not just for the wealthy or those approaching retirement. It can help people of different ages and circumstances make informed decisions, navigate financial uncertainty and work towards their goals. Yet many people may never have had the opportunity to speak to a qualified financial planner or understand how professional guidance can help them.
CISI UK Financial Planning Week offers the profession an opportunity to change that, one conversation, one educational session or one practical resource at a time.
One hour. Many ways to make a difference.
CISI is encouraging financial planners to choose an activity that suits their skills, interests and availability. They could:
- Offer a free introductory financial planning appointment.
- Deliver a financial literacy session at a school, college or community organisation.
- Share practical financial wellbeing resources, tips or educational videos.
- Help people understand the role of a qualified financial planner.
- Organise a team activity to reach more people in their local community.
Whether taking part for the first time or returning as a CISI Financial Planning Week established supporter, every contribution can help spread the message that financial planning can make a positive difference.
Carly Dunningham CFP™ MCSI, Chair of the CISI Financial Planning Forum committee said: “Financial planners have knowledge and expertise that can make a real difference to people's lives. CISI Financial Planning Week is an opportunity to share that expertise beyond our usual client relationships and help more people understand the choices available to them.
“We are asking planners to start with one simple question: what could I do with one hour to help someone feel more confident about their financial future?
“It might be a conversation, a session with young people or a practical resource shared with a local community. Whatever the activity, we want more planners to get involved and demonstrate what our profession can contribute. Together, we can make financial planning more accessible to more people across the UK.”
Chris Morris Chartered MCSI, CISI Head of Financial Planning, Policy and Engagement said: “We encourage planners to share their stories, activities and experiences across social media using #FPWUK, helping to inspire colleagues and demonstrate the collective contribution of the profession.
“Financial confidence can make a real difference to the choices people feel able to make, both today and in the years ahead. CISI Financial Planning Week 2027 is an opportunity to turn professional expertise into practical, accessible support, helping more people understand their options, navigate uncertainty and take meaningful steps towards the future they want.”
A campaign toolkit will provide ready-to-use communications materials, educational resources and practical guidance to make participation straightforward. Supporting planners will also be able to sign up to support CISI Financial Planning Week 2027 The CISI’s Wayfinder website, financialplanning.cisi.org, lists CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals and CISI Accredited Financial Planning Firm™ businesses for consumers to find and book an introductory free appointment.
