With people now more than ever needing guidance to navigate a complex financial world, leading professional body and educational charity the CISI will join the Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd (FPSB) and its global network to support the 10th anniversary of World Financial Planning Day (WFPD) on 7 October 2026 in the UK.

The aim of WFPD is to raise awareness of the talents, skills and benefits of working with a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. The CFP™ mark is the highest global financial planning certification in the UK. A CFP™ professional can help people to organise their finances to achieve specific life goals, build financial confidence and take control of their financial wellbeing.

The FPSB has released new research to mark WFPD. This research shows financial planners are adopting AI to improve efficiency and that clients are bringing AI-generated information into financial conversations. The findings emphasise the even more critical role of the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, who has committed to rigorous standards of competency and ethics.

FPSB global research on the Impact of AI on Financial Planning captured responses from 8,095 financial planners across 37 territories.

The CISI in the UK is part of the FPSB network, which represents more than 236,000 CFP professionals worldwide. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals are committed to rigorous standards of professionalism and to putting consumers' interests first, inviting them to take the next step to Live Your Today and Plan Your Tomorrow - the slogan for WFPD.

WFPD is held as part of the International Organization of Securities Commission’s World Investor Week.

Chris Morris, Chartered MCS, CISI head of financial planning, policy & engagement said: “Working with the FPSB and its global network of organisations to mark the 10th anniversary of WFPD is important as part of CISI’s mission to raise awareness around financial education and highlight the value of financial planning in helping individuals and families achieve their life goals.

“This new research from the FPSB on the impact of AI on financial planning encourages people to speak with their financial planner about any AI-generated financial information they are using to inform financial decisions. A CFP professional can help assess whether the information is accurate, relevant and appropriate for the client’s personal goals and life circumstances and explain how AI is used in their practice.”

“We’ll be sharing resources on financial planning and WFPD across CISI social media channels as well as marking the annual initiative in-person at our flagship annual Financial Planning Conference 2026 in London.

“We also look forward to welcoming our FPSB colleagues from Denver, Colorado at that Conference, including CEO Dante De Gori CFP®, to celebrate the 2025 CFP certification achievers and the 10th anniversary of WFPD.”
