Judges’ comments: This year’s business winner made a significant contribution to the financial planning profession.  Many of the firm’s staff have worked closely with a number of schools and universities to encourage and promote financial planning as a profession to the next generation, and their desire to continuously improve as a business was impressive.

WINNER: Francis Klonowski CFP™ Chartered FCSI (presented by James Sellon CFP™ Chartered MCSI, son of Tony Sellon)

Judge’s comments: This year’s winner has been in the financial planning profession for 30 years.  They were one of the first successful people to pass the internationally recognised Certified Financial Planner licence.  Since doing that they have helped run branch meetings, IFP Fellows’ days, been a CFP assessor and latterly helped write workbooks for CISI’s suite of financial planning exams and served on the CISI Financial Planning Forum Committee.

Background to this award: Tony Sellon was a past president of the Institute of Financial Planning.  He was a very charismatic character who was always gave his time freely to help and support others become better financial planners and to progress the profession we all love.  This award is given annually in recognition of one individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the financial planning profession over many years.
