Resources

We offer a range of CPD resources which are continually updated and added to in the diversity, equity & inclusion space. This helps us to support our members and firms, as well as raise awareness of

Our people

We recognise that fostering an inclusive culture starts with a commitment to our own employees and volunteers. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commitment outlines our approach to embracing and celebrating differences in the workplace. Check our DEI Policy.

We are proud to be signatories of both the Women in Finance Charter and the Race at Work Charter.

The UK government’s Women in Finance Charter commits financial service firms to support women’s progression into senior roles, view all information about the Charter on the government website by clicking here.
The CISI, as a signatory to the Charter, identify this as a step in the right direction for greater equity within financial services, which has also been promoted by our dedicated internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group. Whilst gender equality is not the only barrier in the workforce, signing the Charter will help to ensure that an active and accountable effort continues to be made in this area. Led by the UK government HM Treasury, the Charter requires us to commit to a number of actions to promote gender diversity and inclusion. These are:

Having one member of our senior executive team who is responsible and accountable for gender diversity and inclusion

Continuing to maintain balanced representation on the CISI Board and CISI Executive Team (as of March 2023, our range is between 40-60%)

Continuing to target equal representation of men and women in managerial roles (as of March 2023, our range is between 40-60%)

Publishing progress annually against these targets

Having a senior executive bonus scheme linked to the delivery against these internal targets on gender diversity

The Race at Work Charter asks businesses to make a public commitment to improving equality of opportunity in the workplace and work towards this through a range of actions. We are proud to be a signatory and to commit to the seven key actions of the Charter, which are:

Appoint an Executive Sponsor for race

Capture ethnicity data and publicise progress

Commit at board level to zero tolerance of harassment and bullying

Make clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers

Take action that supports ethnic minority career progression

Support race inclusion allies in the workplace

Include Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains

Find out more about the Race at Work Charter by visiting the Business in the Community (BITC) website, the body who created the Charter.
We have been featured in one of BITC’s latest reports, sharing a case study of some of our work towards the Charter commitments, read about it here.
