CISI Guernsey branch annual dinner 2019 – The Meaning of Liff

John Lloyd, co-author of The Meaning of Liff and producer behind iconic shows like QIBlackadder, Spitting Image and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, was guest speaker at the event, held on 1 February 2019 at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, Guernsey

John Lloyd drew from his Meaning of Liff book for the after-dinner speech, and shared some interesting insights with over 180 guests about why complaints to the BBC can sometimes be a good thing.

Guests contributed over £2,100 in aid of two charities: the Guernsey Army Cadet Force and the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief. The Guernsey Army Cadet Force is a national youth organisation, sponsored by the army, that provides training in military, challenging, adventurous and community activities. The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief provides assistance to cancer sufferers and their families.

CISI Guernsey branch president Paul Garrard, Chartered FCSI said: "it was a very enjoyable evening for everyone, we loved the interesting and amusing insights to the life and times of a comedy writer and producer that John Lloyd shared with us. We are also delighted to raise over £1,000 for each of our two guest charities this year.”
