Football superstar kicks off the CISI Guernsey branch annual dinner 2017

Retired England football star Kevin Keegan was guest speaker at the event, which raised £3,340 for charity Channel Islands Air Search

Guests at the event on Friday 20 January 2017, at David Ferguson Hall, Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, thought Kevin Keegan was one of the best speakers ever. Many lined up after dinner to get their photos taken with the retired England football legend.

Channel Islands Air Search, the chosen charity for the evening, is a voluntary service providing rapid response airborne search and rescue services in the 4,000 square miles of water surrounding the Channel Islands and the adjacent French coast. It depends on charitable donations as the service does not make any charges for performing searches or responding to calls for standby.

CISI Guernsey branch president, Patrick Millar, Chartered FCSI said that the annual dinners are an opportunity for members to gather in an informal environment to hear updates on CISI activity for the year while being entertained. "The event was well attended with about 300 members and their guests. Overall it was one of our most successful dinners ever," he said.

Top table guests included: Gavin St. Pier, president of the Policy & Resources committee, States of Guernsey; Linda Johnson, chairman of the Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors; Sophie Watkins, manager at Channel Islands Financial Ombudsman: Martyn Dorey, president of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, and David Hugo, president of the Guernsey Friends of Air Search, Channel Islands Air Search.

Many thanks to ABN - AMRO and BNP Paribas for sponsoring the event, without whom it would not have been possible. If you would like to support future dinners, please contact nikki.macmillan@cisi.org.
