Many people who work in financial services, particularly those in investment firms, have a general sense of what is meant by the term ‘market abuse’. However, fewer people are able to define it accurately, or describe the various forms it can take. This module is intended to provide a concise, non-technical introduction to market abuse, and does not assume any prior knowledge of the topic. It outlines what market abuse is, and the various forms it can take. It also explores some of the practical issues relating to the prevention of market abuse, including the responsibilities of both firms and individual employees.
