Estate Planning
Refreshed September 2024 | CPD time: 45 Minutes
Estate planning is the process of ensuring that assets pass to the desired people in the event of death or incapacity. Estate planning usually also ensures that any associated taxes are mitigated as far as is possible on the transfer of these assets, and/or that appropriate life cover is put in place to cover any potential tax charges. This module provides an understanding of the basics of inheritance tax, when it applies, when it can legitimately be mitigated, constituents, and the importance of a will against intestacy.
