The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) is delighted to announce the appointment of Nigel Sydenham Chartered FCSI as Chair of its Training, Competence and Culture (TC&C) Interest Group Committee.

The TC&C Interest Group Committee encourages the CISI’s members to share their ideas and listen to presentations by other practitioners. The Group provides an opportunity to meet other professionals and engage in open discussions in a confidential setting, as Groups are conducted under the Chatham House rule, unless recorded for CISI TV.

Nigel (right) is Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance Training (UK) at CCL Academy, and specialises in training boards, senior managers and other staff on the impact of regulation and regulatory change.

He takes over the role of Chair from Carl Redfern who held the position of Chair for the last two years.

On his appointment, Nigel said: “Having been Deputy Chair of the committee since 2018, I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Chair. Recent changes in regulation have highlighted once again the crucial importance of training and competence, and the development of a healthy business culture is emerging as a key theme for firms. The TC&C Interest Group provides CISI members, and non-members, with an opportunity to explore these issues, and some of the challenges they present, with other professionals. I look forward to working with the rest of the committee to provide members with new opportunities for learning, discussion and networking.”

Kevin Moore, Chartered FCSI, CISI Director of Global Business Development said: “I would like to thank Carl for his excellent leadership of the Group over the last few years and welcome Nigel in his new role. We look forward to supporting him with his ideas and strategy for the Group in the future.”

The global body has nine professional forums which include the practitioner areas of: Bond, Compliance, Corporate Finance, International Regulation, Fin Tech, Financial Planning, Operations, Risk and Wealth Management. There are also two Interest Groups: Paraplanner and Training, Competence and Culture.
