Scotland branch Annual Dinner and Awards night 2016

Top performing CISI exam achievers were recognised at the Scotland branch’s principle social occasion of the year, which also raised £1,543.75 for Action for Children

John Sergeant, political correspondent and author, spoke at this year’s event, held at the George Hotel in Edinburgh. Other speakers were Grant McFarlane, Fundraising Manager at Action for Children and Chris Clark MCSI, CISI President, Scotland branch.

Chris said: "The Scotland Dinner 2016 was a triumphant, memorable evening celebrating the excellence of our award winners, of networking between CISI members and their guests, of raising funds for a worthy charity in Action for Children and of entertainment by guest speaker and sometime Strictly come dancing competitor John Sergeant. The hard work by the committee and the events team was evident in the smooth running of the event and immediate enquiries about next year's dinner!"

More than 1,300 exams were sat in Scotland in the past award year, with the evening specifically recognising the successes of outstanding exam candidates working in Scotland (see below listing). The event was also an opportunity to congratulate CISI Scotland members for achieving Chartered Member or Chartered Wealth Manager status between 1 August 2015 and 31 August 2016.

A charity prize draw on behalf of Action for Children was held. The 137 guests had the option of winning: £100 John Lewis voucher, courtesy of Spiers & Jeffrey; a bottle of champagne, courtesy of Investec; a £30 TM Lewins voucher; a £70 meal for two at Fishers in the City; CISI goodies; and a signed copy of John Sergeant’s Barging round Britain

Top table guests included the speakers and the branch president; also Andrew Welsh, Director and Founder, Meraki Talent; Dr Arman Eshraghi, Senior Lecturer, Finance, University of Edinburgh, and Paul Hughes, Chair, Scottish Committee, CFA UK.

Sponsors were Meraki Talent and GAM.
