CISI rewards Scottish high achievers

Eleven financial services professionals have been honoured as Scotland’s top performers in CISI exams

They were recognised at the Annual Dinner and Awards of the Institute’s Scotland branch, which took place at the George Hotel, Edinburgh. Candidates in Scotland sat more than 1,300 exams last year with more than 400 completing qualifications.

The evening was attended by 165 guests and featured as guest speaker BBC TV sports presenter Hazel Irvine. She is pictured, right, with Christopher Clark MCSI, Scotland branch President and CISI Chief Executive Simon Culhane,  Chartered FCSI.

Charity boostGuests also heard from Craig Mathieson, founder of the charity Polar Academy, for which more than £2,500 was raised at the event through a collection and prize draw. This year, for the first time, the charity will choose ten young people to be part of a major Arctic expedition and challenges them, on their return to the UK, to become positive role models in their community.

A further speaker was Hamish Buchan, Chairman of the Stewart Ivory Foundation, who explained the role of the organisation in educating school leavers in Scotland about personal finance. He is pictured below receiving a £45,000 cheque on behalf of the Foundation from CISI Chief Executive Simon Culhane – a grant from the Institute’s education charity, the Educational Trust.

Christopher Clark MCSI, President of the Scotland branch, said: “This was the fourth annual dinner and it just gets better every year.  The feedback from guests has been fantastic.”

The event was sponsored by BlackRock and Change Recruitment Group.
