Wales branch annual dinner 2016 benefits cancer charity

The event in the stunning surroundings of the Banqueting Hall at Cardiff Castle generated a collection of £420 for Velindre Cancer Centre

Ken Skates AM, Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, was guest speaker at the event. He delivered an uplifting message about the growing Welsh economy, new offices in regeneration schemes and investment in Cardiff, stressing that Wales is open for business.

Over 60 guests were also entertained with a selection of traditional and contemporary songs in both English and Welsh, and had the opportunity to enjoy a 30-minute tour of the castle.

Meirion Davies, Chartered FCSI, President of the CISI Wales branch, said: “Our second annual dinner at the castle was enjoyed by all; the feedback was great and the Welsh-themed entertainment was first class. We are looking forward to organising the next dinner!”

The evening’s chosen charity, Velindre Cancer Centre, has been providing care, support and treatment to cancer patients and their families for the past 60 years. It helps provide radiotherapy – critical to improving patient outcomes for cancer – and other specialised anti-cancer treatments.

Top table guests included The Hon Adam Bruce, Chair, Wales branch, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners; Marie Flanning, President, Insurance Institute of Cardiff; and Ray Singh, Charitable Finds Committee, Velindre Cancer Centre.

Many thanks to First Trust Global and Invesco Perpetual for sponsoring the event, without whom it would not have been possible. If you would like to support future dinners, please contact nikki.macmillan@cisi.org
