Intricate and intriguing table decorations set the tone for the event at the Comis Hotel & Golf Resort on 23 July. The decorations, made entirely of driftwood and other materials found on the beaches of the Isle of Man, referenced the great work of the nominated charity for the evening, Beach Buddies.

Around 122 guests, who included both the chief minister and the lieutenant governor, heard from the charity’s founder, Bill Dale, who explained how a simple idea – gathering together groups of volunteers of all ages to clear beaches – germinated on the Isle of Man and subsequently attracted interest and praise worldwide.

A total of £1,045 was raised in aid of Beach Buddies charity. This included proceeds from a raffle draw on the night, with lucky guests winning prizes including:

  • £200 Steam Packet voucher
  • Complimentary two-course meal for two at the Coast Bar & Brasserie
  • A night’s stay at The Regency Hotel
  • £100 Sure voucher
  • £100 14 North voucher
  • £100 Wine Down voucher
  • Fynoderee gin gift basket
  • £100 Robinsons voucher
  • £100 Infinity Dental and Beauty Spa voucher
  • £100 M&S vouchers

Top table guests included: Isle of Man Chief Minister Howard Quayle CBE MHK; The Hon. Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man Sir Richard Gozney KCMG CVO KStJ; and representatives from the Department for Enterprise and the Isle of Man Wealth & Fund Services Association

The sponsors for this event were, Nedgroup Investments (IOM), without whom it would not have been possible. If you would like to support future dinners, please contact nikki.macmillan@cisi.org.
