The CISI’s Isle of Man branch annual dinner on Friday 16 October kept the ball rolling on a charity collection that began last year on behalf of the Ramsey Sports Trust – The Jan McElroy Community Sports Hall Project
The 110 members and guests at this year’s event, held at the Empress Hotel in Douglas, raised £826 towards the construction costs of a centre dedicated to the memory of promising footballer Jan McElroy. This collection received a very generous boost after the event of a further £1,000 donation, beating last year’s collection of nearly £1,300, which was contributed by over 150 guests.
As well as raising funds for an important building for the local community, the event celebrated the achievements of CISI Isle of Man members who had attained Chartered Wealth Manager or Chartered Member status between 1 October 2014 and 30 September 2015.
‘City Superwoman’ Nicola Horlick, a leading fund manager in the City for over 30 years, and CEO of Money&Co, a person-to-business lending platform, provided the after dinner entertainment with an interesting talk about crowdfunding.
Other speakers were Rodney Margot, Chartered FCSI(Hon), committee member and former President of the CISI’s Isle of Man branch; Colin Warner, CISI Global Director of Finance and IT; and Richard Bellwood, Chartered FCSI, committee member of the CISI’s Isle of Man branch.
Top table guests included John Garland, Head of Corporate Financial Services, Isle of Man Government; Michael Weldon, Director Supervision, Financial Supervision Commission; Sandra Skruszka, President, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and Martin Baker, Head of Communications, Money&Co.
The CISI would like to thank M&G Investments for sponsoring the event.
