CISI Ireland Awards Ceremony 2017

CISI Ireland held its second awards ceremony on 23 March 2017, in recognition of the high achievements of its members

Ger Deering, Ireland’s financial services and pensions ombudsman, was guest speaker at the event, held at the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin. He spoke about the CISI’s active promotion of integrity and professional behaviour and how this directly impacts on his work with the consumers and in turn, the institutions. He also outlined the improvement in resolving consumer queries through mediation over the past couple of years.

Over 40 guests attended the ceremony and networking event. Other speakers were CISI Director of Global Business Development, Kevin Moore, Chartered MCSI; and CISI Ireland Client Relationship Manager, Deirdre Heffernan. Kevin said that all the award winners should be congratulated on their achievement, and Deirdre acknowledged the continuing commitment to professionalism by individuals and firms, demonstrated by the increase in CISI qualifications being taken in Ireland.

Awards were presented to nine individuals on the night, for results achieved during the period 1 September 2015 until 31 December 2016.

The event follows on from Ireland’s inaugural Awards Ceremony, held in October 2015 at the Irish Stock Exchange, which saw seven candidates recognised. One of this year’s achievers was also recognised at the 2015 ceremony for winning a joint award for Introduction to Securities & Investment: Gary Keane, Bank of New York Mellon.

Alan Ryan, who works in investment operations at Pioneer Investments, was recognised for his outstanding achievement in the Fundamentals in Financial Services qualification. New to the financial services sector, Alan is already studying towards the Investment Operations Certificate.
