The annual CISI awards ceremony celebrates those students who have achieved the highest mark in their particular exam

The CISI Singapore Annual Awards ceremony 2017 celebrated the achievement of 25 of Singapore’s brightest rising stars of global financial services.

Top performers were recognised for their outstanding exam success, with prizes awarded in 12 categories, including Islamic Banking and Finance, Combating Financial Crime, derivatives operations, Global Financial Compliance, Global Securities Operations, Risk in Financial Services and International Certificate in Wealth & Investment Management.

Of the 25 CISI award winners, ten were female and 15 male.

The ceremony was held at the DBS auditorium, Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 3 and sponsors included DBS Bank, which kindly offered the venue.

The CISI’s Singapore office marked its 10th anniversary in 2016, and 2017 is the year the Institute celebrates its 25th year since its evolution from the London Stock Exchange. Growth in the Asia Pacific region for the CISI has come from countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines.

The CISI Director of Global Business Development, Kevin Moore, Chartered MCSI presented the awards. He said: “It was a very happy occasion that reflected our pleasure in the friendships and associations that we have in Singapore and the region, as well as the success and dedication of the candidates who have proved to be best in class.”

Managing Director of Technology and Operations at DBS Bank, Sandra Stonham, said: “Over the past few years, we have been committed to shaping the future of banking, as well as furthering our digital innovation agenda. Special mention was reserved for Liu Jing Jing who received two awards: one for Outstanding Achievement (Global) for the Introduction to Securities & Investment (International) and the second for the Outstanding Achievement Awards (Singapore) Introduction to Securities & Investment (International).

Liu Jing Jing said: “The CISI has provided me with a great opportunity to sharpen my knowledge in bank operations and IT. Winning a global top award gives me a tremendous amount of encouragement to keep learning and keep getting better.”

Stephen Madsen, award winner for Risk in Financial Services, said: “The CISI Top Performer Award for Risk in Financial Services (RFS) course provides motivation to continue my journey of lifelong learning. The RFS course delivered valuable insights into different areas of risk which were less familiar.”
