Changes to the route to CISI Charter

There are two changes to the route to Individual Charter for CISI members, affecting you if you hold qualifications at Level 3, 4 or 5, or qualifications at Level 6/7.

Changes to the CPD requirements from 25 April 2022 for individuals holding Level 3, 4 or 5 qualifications

An Individual Charter is recognised across the world as demonstrating an outstanding commitment to achieving the highest levels of knowledge, skills and behaviour. The CISI has increased the number of years of CPD required to become Individually Chartered to help maintain these high standards and ensure that an Individual Charter continues to represent the peak of professionalism in financial services.

What are the changes?

The number of logged CPD years required for Associate (ACSI) members to obtain Chartered Membership of the CISI (Chartered MCSI) has been increased as shown below:

Level of Membership Level of Qualification Previous No. of CPD years required* (Window of Opportunity) New No. of CPD years required* – effective from 25 April 2022 Eligible for Chartered Membership
Associate (ACSI) Level 3 (CISI and non-CISI) Three years Five years
Associate (ACSI) Level 4/5 (CISI) Two years Four years
Associate (ACSI) Level 4/5 (Non-CISI) Three yearsFive years

*This must have been logged in the consecutive years immediately preceding your CISI membership.

If you would like to register your interest to work towards the Individual Charter on the current CPD route (Window of Opportunity), you will need to complete the following steps by 29 August 2022:

Current Associate Members with Level 3, 4 or 5 Qualifications

If you already hold Associate membership but are not on one of the CISI’s 35-hour CPD schemes, you will need to email our CPD department at cpdscheme@cisi.org by 29 August 2022 to register your interest for the Window of Opportunity. This will then amend your CPD Scheme to one which requires a minimum of 35 hours of CPD to be logged annually.

However, if you are already working towards Individual Charter and are on a CISI 35 hours CPD scheme, you have automatically been enrolled under the Window of Opportunity, and will remain on the current CPD route. You will only need to ensure you submit your application to upgrade to Chartered Membership by 29 August 2025.

Student/Affiliate Members or anyone seeking to become a member, with Level 3, 4 or 5 Qualifications

You must first upgrade your membership to Associate level and register under the Window of Opportunity. You can do this in one easy step by completing this form by 29 August 2022.

Changes to CPD Requirements from 25 April 2022 for individuals holding Level 6/7 qualifications

From 25 April 2022, individuals holding a CISI Level 6/7 qualification, will also be able to put forward CPD they have undertaken as a Chartered Member of another relevant Body towards applying for Chartered Fellowship of the CISI.
