CISI Future Foundation launches this year

Applications are now closed, thank you for all the submissions.

About the Foundation

In 2021 the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment decided that it would form a new charitable entity focused on Financial Literacy. Volunteers from the CISI Board were recruited to form a working party to assist with the set up and registration of the charity, which has since been registered with Companies House as the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment Future Foundation and is just about to be formally granted charity status by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

The new Future Foundation will act as a grant giving authority to partner with existing organisations to:

“Improve financial literacy skills, the experience and outcomes of financial learning, through the provision of grants”

The Board of Trustees will be responsible for aiding the Foundation’s mission by approving and monitoring the projects undertaken. The grant giving pot approved by the CISI initially is £2.5 million. The Board will operate through hybrid meetings held at least four times a year.

Founding Trustees

The Foundation has its own governing structure separate from the CISI, with Nick Swales, DL, Chartered FCSI, Regional - Director North East, Rathbone Investment Management Ltd acting as the Chair of the Foundation.

Appointment of new Trustees

In March and April 2022 the CISI sought nominations from the financial services community and beyond to contribute to this good cause and act as Trustees for the newly established Foundation. The call for nominations has now closed. For those who have submitted applications, these are now being processed and the next steps will be:

  • Applications are being filtered using the scoring system as outlined below according to suitability, skills and evidence provided. This will be a ‘blind’ process removing any personal information.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted w/c 16 May 2022.
  • First round interviews will be conducted at the end of May by Microsoft Teams or Zoom calls – we anticipate this should take no longer than 30-40 minutes.
  • A final verification round of interviews may be conducted in early June.
  • Successful candidates will be informed as early in June as possible.

The CISI will publicly announce the new Trustees once all these stages are complete. Where we can, we will provide feedback for shortlisted candidates at the end of the process. Due to the number of applications, we are afraid that it may not be possible to give all candidates individual feedback. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure this is a fair and balanced appointment process and we will endeavour to make sure that anyone who has applied is aware of the status of their application at given intervals.
