The Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd has agreed to our request to change how CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Marks are represented in the UK. Previously, the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Marks were represented with a superscript 'CM' - CFPCM

We have requested for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Marks to now be represented with a superscript 'TM' -  CFP™ - and this request has been granted.

The change is due to a technical issue with the 'CM' superscript. Computer language, Unicode, has about 65,000 characters, including superscript alphabet characters, T and M, but not C. By changing to 'TM',  systems universally will recognise the superscript and allow for it to appear across all platforms. This means users will no longer have to make manual changes and/or insert the superscript yourself, and will allow the CISI, and our suppliers, to represent the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER brand consistently.

We have updated our Guide to Representing CISI Membership and Using CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP™ Marks, which provides comprehensive information for members.

All future material released by the CISI will include the superscript 'TM'. We encourage all CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals to implement the new branding as soon as possible, however, we understand that you may be unable to update your business cards, letterhead and/or marketing collateral until your next print run is required.

If you have any questions or concerns, regarding this change, please email marketing@cisi.org and we will be happy to assist you.
