Professional Forums

Professional Forums are one of the CISI’s key membership benefits and enable members to meet and listen to presentations from practitioners in the industry, as well as engage in open discussion. They are a unique opportunity to share ideas and discuss relevant issues in a confidential setting, as they are conducted under the Chatham House Rule:

"When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed".

The forums are free events open to Chartered members, FCSI, MCSI, ACSI and Affiliate members. Student members may attend one of each forum per year. Each Committee listens to the requirements voiced by its membership and also looks for opportunities to address their concerns through the Forums. Attending forums counts towards ‘Active’ learning under the CISI CPD scheme.

Each forum is run by its own committee comprising practitioners in the relevant field who work closely with the CISI to plan forthcoming events, identify areas of interest and source speakers. Presentations from previous forums and responses to FCA papers can be viewed in Professional Forum Archive.

As part of a review of how we best organise CPD and Networking for members, it was decided that the CPD content of the Islamic Finance Forum would be best managed by including it as a topic within all of our other professional forums, rather than continue to maintain a separate forum. It is believed that this is the best way of enabling the subject matter to reach a wider audience. The last Islamic Finance Forum was held on the 26 February. If you would like to discuss this further please contact Claire Parish at pf@cisi.org

The Financial Technology Forum is one of the Institute's newest forums. It meets four times a year and it is heavily involved in the CISI Annual Technology Debate.
