Onscreen Calculator

Candidates must use the onscreen calculator for all CISI CBT exams in all languages in the UK and internationally.qualifications

The onscreen calculator is very similar to the Microsoft calculator plus found on all PCs still running on XP and Vista.  The Windows 7 calculator is very different to the onscreen calculator in Prometric exams, with additional functions you will not have with the onscreen calculator.

If you don't have XP or Vista, then you will need to download the calculator by entering 'microsoft calculator plus' into your browser's search engine, and choosing a download site from which to download the calculator. The main difference between the CBT and the Microsoft calculator is outlined in the onscreen calculator user guide.

Mac users are strongly advised to practise with the Microsoft onscreen calculator on a PC, but you may also refer to the user guide above for help and instructions.

Candidates who are taking Unit 02 - Corporate Finance Technical Foundations, Unit 05 – Investment Management or International Investment Management will have an instruction sheet next to their computer in the exam room on how to use the onscreen calculator for specific calculations relevant to those exams.

Narrative Exam Calculator

Candidates sitting narrative exams can either use the calculator provided for them by the CISI, or they can bring their own (updated) version of this calculator. Candidates can only use an approved calculator listed under the narrative calculator user guide.
