Grades of Membership
Membership Brochure

The CISI has five different grades of membership, so whether you are just starting out in the industry; studying for a benchmark qualification, or you are an established practitioner with a wealth of experience, there is a grade appropriate for your level, including the opportunity to become personally chartered - the pinnacle of professionalism.

The Institute's suite of membership benefits, professional and personal, offer financial services practitioners unprecedented opportunities to remain up-to-date with new trends and developments and seek advice, support and guidance.

Acting with Integrity

The CISI is committed to championing the highest standards of ethical behaviour and practice among its individual members and Corporate Supporters. We encourage members and supporters to adopt our Code of Conduct which is also known as the Lord George Principles and is shared with the Worshipful Company of International Bankers.

To highlight the importance of acting with integrity at all times, all CISI members (existing and new members) are required to complete and pass an integrity test.  Whilst the test will not determine whether someone is ethical or unethical, the rationale is that by taking a test, practitioners will be encouraged to think about what they should do and to recognise certain situations and how best to respond.

Membership Integrity Requirement

Prior to joining the Institute, or within the first three months of association with the CISI, all new members (excluding Student members) are required to complete IntegrityMatters and pass with an A grade. IntegrityMatters is not an examination but a test taken as part of an elearning tool.

To meet this requirement you have two options:

Option 1

Purchase and pass IntegrityMatters with an A grade then join the Institute.
Option 2

Join the CISI and elect to complete IntegrityMatters within three months of joining.
Should you not meet the requirement within this timeframe membership of the Institute will be suspended.
