CISI CPD Auditing
CPD audit wait time
CPD audits where no further information is required are taking approximately:
7
Days
The CISI has adopted a risk-based approach to the auditing of members’ CPD records and auditing is carried out continuously throughout the year.
Members whose logs have completed the end of year process may be chosen for auditing and will be asked to verify the non-CISI entries they have logged as CPD.
Audit process
The chart below outlines the process and timeline for CPD auditing.
Acceptable and Unacceptable Supporting Evidence for Logged Activities
The CPD scheme supporting evidence guidelines will help you identify the supporting evidence you need to retain when entering non-CISI CPD entries into your log over the 12 month period for which your CPD log runs.
Members who attend a third party CPD event, and do not have suitable evidence of attendence, should upload to their CPD log, a third party CPD certificate which has been completed and signed by the event provider.

Who will be audited?
A random sample of members from all the membership categories (except Student members, as they do not have access to the CPD scheme), representing a percentage of the total number of registered members, will be selected for audit. Auditing occurs on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

How much evidence do I need to provide?
Members are required to provide the CISI with a minimum of 35 hours of evidence for audit. The evidence provided must meet the minimum requirements of the CPD scheme. The CISI will only audit and count the maximum amount of CPD permitted in each category (e.g. within the CISI CPD Scheme, if more than 30 hours of Active evidence is provided, only the first 30 hours will be initially audited). Members can select the evidence they wish to present for audit, as long as it meets the CISI scheme requirements. Please note that if some of the submitted audit pack is found to not meet the requirements the CISI may need to contact you for additional evidence.

I've undertaken more than 35 hours CPD but I'm concerned some of my evidence may not be suitable. Can I send you excess evidence so I do not run the risk of failing?
Yes, although we will only review the additional evidence if problems are found. Please view our supporting evidence guidelines before sending your audit pack if you do have concerns over the suitability of content.

How long should I keep evidence for my logged non-CISI CPD activities?
Members using the CISI CPD log to upgrade to Chartered status are required to have passed up to six consecutive CPD years and are therefore recommended to keep supporting evidence dossiers of all of the non-CISI CPD activity for each of those years. All members are strongly advised to keep at least three years supporting evidence dossiers, regardless of whether they intend to apply for a membership upgrade or not.
