Study Resources

CISI Workbooks & Elearning

Many successful candidates study using the CISI's excellent study resources:

 CISI workbooks
 Professional Refesher
 Revision Express Interactive

Please select any of the study resources if you want to find out whether your chosen exam has workbooks and elearning tools available. Alternatively you can also look up your exam on the exam details and syllabus page.

Past Papers

Past papers are available for narrative exams and you should read the chief examiners' reports to ensure you do not make the same mistakes as previous candidates. We suggest that you look at past papers to familiarise yourself with the exam format, types of questions, and timings.  You should try one of the past papers as a mock exam.

Mock Papers

The mock paper comprises the same number of questions (excluding trial questions) as you will see in the exam, and are similar in style. There are instructions included in the mock paper for each exam, including the time allocated, the number of questions, the grade boundaries, how to score your answers.

Mock papers are only available for CBT exams. If the exam you wish to take is not listed then there is not currently a mock paper available.  If this is the case, you can still view sample questions listed under your exam syllabus.

The CISI plans to release more mock papers for subjects throughout the year to help candidates prepare for CBT exams.

Mock paper examples:

Exchange Traded Derivatives | Derivatives (Level 3) | Financial Derivatives (Level 3) | Introduction to Securities & Investment | Investment, Risk & Taxation | Derivatives (Level 4) | Islamic Finance Qualification | Asset Servicing | Operational Risk | Global Securities Operations

Accredited Training Providers

The CISI’s accreditation process is a key feature of its quality assurance. The purpose of the accreditation process is to enable training providers to demonstrate that they can deliver quality training and support for candidates preparing to sit CISI exams. Although the CISI has extensive training expertise, it does not normally train candidates for its own exams; instead it prefers to accredit and train external providers.
