The CISI in North America
The CISI's qualifications are available by distance learning or study courses run by its accredited training providers in Canada and in the United States. In the US both 7City and BPP are able to provide face-to-face courses for those studying for CISI qualifications.
FINRA and the CISI recently signed an MOU to work together to ensure that relevant FINRA members holding the Series 7 - General Securities Representative Examination - will be able to maintain or achieve authorisation as Retail Investment Advisers in Securities and/or Derivatives from the FCA.
FINRA members holding the Series 7 qualification will be offered the Associate (ACSI) grade of CISI membership or full membership (MCSI) where they satisfy qualification and experience criteria.
FINRA recognises some CISI Certificates programme exams as an alternative route to qualifications for those in the investment industry. Equally the CISI will accept some FINRA exams as part of its Global Model
The CISI's Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) is being piloted by a number of leading firms for domestic use on the basis that it is already taken by a number of US banks internationally. It is being used the foundation level for candidates following the FINRA Operations Professional Series 99 route.
The CISI has also delivered a number of its Integrity at Work seminars in the United States.
The CISI in the Caribbean
The CISI's qualifications are available in the Caribbean through study courses run by its accredited training providers.
In the Cayman Islands, the University College of the Cayman Islands offers training for the International Introduction to Investment and International Investment Management exams.
In the Bahamas, the CISI the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services is accredited to train for the Certificate in Securities and Masters in Wealth Management.
