CPD Opportunities

The use of CISI CPD opportunities is, wherever possible, automatically logged by the Institute on behalf of its members. Below you will find all the different CPD offerings provided by the Institute along with an indication of which of the learning catergories they fall into and whether or not their use is logged automatically.

Active Learning

Attending a CISI Training Course, Conference or CPD Event - Structured Learning 


The CISI runs a programme of lectures in both London and the regions. All CISI Conferences, workshops and CPD events are allocated a number of claimable hours dependent on the type of event. The appropriate hours are automatically allocated to the member's CPD logs within 48 hours of the event taking place.


Attending a CISI Professional Forum - Structured Learning 

Professional Forums are discussion groups open to members of the CISI. Meeting on a regular basis, they enable members to meet and discuss topical issues with others working in their area of the financial services industry. Members are automatically allocated 1.5 hours to their CPD logs for attendance and participation at forum events.


Sitting CISI Examinations - Structured Learning 

All CISI exam candidates are automatically allocated CPD hours equivalent to the duration of the examination, upon delivery of their results. However, a examination pass entitles a candidate to receive quadruple the original examination hours in recognition of the preparation needed to pass an CISI examination.


Using Professional Refresher or Other E-Learning Tools - Structured Learning 

Members accessing Professional Refresher or any other relevant elearning tools are entitled to claim the appropriate hours of usage as part of the active learning CPD category.

Reflective Learning

Infolink - Unstructured Learning 

Infolink is an online library developed by the CISI for its members. Use of Infolink earns members reflective CPD hours equivalent to the hours of use.

CISI TV - Structured Learning 

CISI TV is a brand new membership benefit which allows you to enjoy a selection of the Institute's most popular CPD events online, anywhere, anytime.

It is available exclusively to members by logging into My CISI on the website. You will be able to catch up on the CISI's latest events whilst earning reflective CPD hours which will be automatically added to your personal CISI CPD log.

 Self-Directed Learning

Reading S&I Review - Unstructured Learning 

The Securities & Investment Review is the official members' magazine of the CISI. It is a free benefit, issued 10 times a year. Reading the S&I Review may be logged as Self-directed learning. The Securities & Investment Review is also available as an online publication.

Reading the S&I Review online is recorded automatically as self-directed learning and it can also be accessed using the Publications Mobile App 


Reading Regulatory Update Online - Unstructured Learning


Composed by CISI Senior Advisor, Christopher Bond, Chartered MCSI, Regulatory Update is an indispensable, quarterly guide to changes and hot topics in the world of financial regulation.  Reading the Regulatory Update each quarter earns members the appropriate number of hours spent on the activity under the self-directed learning element. Also available via the CISI Publications Mobile App.

Reading Regulatory Update Online - Unstructured Learning

The Investment Management Review (only available for full members) is a benefit offered to senior members. It is an invaluable publication which gives an overview of key issues currently affecting the industry, surveys the best research and most significant developments from around the world and contains analytical articles based on themes and issues of global significance.



 Development of Others

Presenting at CISI seminars, forums, conferences or training courses - Structured Learning
 

Those who present at CISI events earn CPD hours under the development of others category and these are logged automatically. Presenting earns members hours equivalent to triple the event length.

Chairing at CISI seminars, forums, conferences or training courses - Structured Learning

Those who chair CISI events earn CPD hours under the development of others category and these are logged automatically. Chairing earns members hours equivalent to double the event length (half of these hours fall under the active category and half under development of others).


Being a member of a CISI Committee or Exam Subject Panel - see guidance

Those who sit on Institute Panels or Committees (eg, Professional Forum Committees, or Exam Syllabus Panels) earn CPD hours under the development of others category, and these are logged automatically. The hours are equivalent to the event length.
